Welcome to Live and Loud, where I bring you along on my auditory and visual journeys as a local musician entrenched in the South Florida heavy rock and metal music scene. Everything penned here reflects my unabashed, personal opinions—whether it’s about friends, fellow bandmates, or local acts we all know. Remember, these reflections are rooted in my personal tastes and experiences. Ultimately, we all contribute uniquely to our scene. Consider this blog my personal sounding board, offering you a window into the life of someone who plays and interacts within our dankass local scene.

Happy New Year I suppose.
It’s a bit late but we are back at Black Flamingo. Me and Jaz came extra early to the bar. So we hung out and ate shit and had a few beers for 2 hours before people came. We had a band fell off the bill, A Moment of Violence… OH well. Sucks for them. We have Serpent Eye and Scattered Reality. We had a fan named Liam who brought a compilation CD and wanted us to sign it which was so cool. Never signed anything before. Made us feel a bit special. Anywho, So we ended up playing. We did good. Had a few flubs. I smashed the shit out of the fog machine, I looked into the crowd and they were digging what we were playing.

Fucking awesome. We realized that Marlon our bass player couldn’t hear. After the first song, we did communion. Surprisingly people participated and enjoyed it. It was fantastic. We had about 4 to 6 people participate. I was holding the bowl of wafers. So I got to play the notes while holding a bowl of wafers. So upon the third song, Chris our drummer kinda didn’t keep time on the third song which was quite annoying cause we all followed him. The fourth was rough in the beginning -_-. After we passed it we got it right and it was good… I hate that. It should be perfect each time.

It was later on we had a bunch of sales and praise, come to find out the third band was super late. Which isn’t good. We go about our evening talking with Serpent Eye and we just make new friends. Scattered reality comes in late all tough looking all cool, blaring airhorns and just being obnoxious… what a mess… Not cool. Well, when they came in Serpent Eye was already setting up and almost done. So they’re gonna play last and our drummer doesn’t wanna lend them a drumset. Ohhhh well! Be more prepared! However, we all make mistakes. So Serpent Eye played. They were good. They had a fine audience. We’ve talked to a few others making connections and band affiliations. Finally, Scattered Reality had its break. The sound guy lent them the drums. They got lucky. They finally got up and played. They were a hot mess. Got to get a few more beers for me and Jaz. Played with Aurora a bit since my wife and daughter were there and went back to networking. Me and Jaz ended up selling some things and just talking about future events and other fun stuff. Today was a good night considering all the stuff that happened this evening.

Sorry, no pictures this time.
